The Green Heart Zone.

When I hear someone like David Wolfe talking about the latest super food he recommends, I often wonder how people on very low incomes are supposed to afford this kind of product. If you’ve ever looked at David’s web site you will know that what he has on offer is no doubt very high quality indeed, but very expensive, for someone who is feeding a family prohibitively so. The same goes for organic food too, sure you don’t have to eat as much because you are getting more nutrition, but it’s still too expensive for those who are not earning fairly high incomes.

So it’s nice to see a company creating a product that is free to all, and has the added bonus of actually creating renewable energy while it’s being used. Enter TGO- The Great Outdoor Gym Company, you could mistake it as a kid’s playground from a distance, but up close the gym they have created in Hull in the UK is a marvel and looks like just as much fun as you might have in a playground. You can weigh yourself, see how tall you are and help yourself to the hand bike or cross trainer at any time of the day or night, you also get to see how much power you are creating!

Yes that’s right, these exercise machines generate power as they are used, which goes into the local grid, apparently the average person will create between 50-100 watts of electricity, even more if they are very fit. So you can help save the planet at the same time that you’re improving your health! This would have to be one of the coolest ideas I’ve come across in ages, if we had one in my town it might even help me to get that cardio fitness that is the one element lacking in my personal program.

Have a look at this video, I suspect you will be as excited and inspired as I was:

Coming Out Of The Fog.

What with being sick there hasn’t been a lot of thought process going on in this head of mine, maybe I’m getting better because I’m beginning to have some thoughts on what being sick has been all about. There are layers to this but to start with lets look at the physical body, this is something I’ve been pushing pretty hard even though I do my best to give it good nutrition, exercise and rest. I don’t enjoy being ill, but there has been a part of me that has enjoyed the fact that I haven’t been able to do anything much for the last four days.

I love pretty much everything that I do, but it’s a lot to juggle and only some of it brings in money to support me, which is then challenging in terms of saving up for things like holidays! So there is a fundamental change still on its way, but in the meantime I am determined to continue to refine the way that I support my physical body. My intuition has led me to mucuna pruriens, a medicinal herb that has a huge range of healing properties. If you require empirical evidence then better stop reading now, this is an intuitive journey for me as I feel into what’s right for my body.

You can hear what David Wolfe says about this herb at the end of this post, the part that got my attention was that it is a natural source of L-dopa which turns into dopamine, a neurotransmitter that buffers us against stress. It can also help to improve eyesight and with my schedule I really don’t have time to do my natural vision improvement exercises. So I found a source on e-bay that feels like it’s the right one for me but the seller is away, I will wait till they come back and then I will embark on a journey with this herb and see where it takes me.

There is some huge movement occurring on spiritual, emotional and psychological levels of my being at this time, and I will be talking about this in future posts. But for now, baby steps as I come out of the fog of illness, with any luck some therapeutic dancing tomorrow night if I am well enough, dance the last of the cold germs out into the night!

In this video, Superfoods Nutritionist David Wolfe passionately explains why he considers Mucuna Pruriens to be one of the most impressive, healing herbs on planet earth.
It is the highest (known) natural source of L-Dopa, which enhances dopamine, which makes us feel stable, happy, and confident. It has healed people from long-term stimulant abuse, repairs poor eyesight, improves hearing, enhances reproduction and hormone balancing in women, along with many other benefits. We only wish we’d heard of it sooner!

All I Want For Christmas Is My Three Front Teeth!

You know how the times when we are the busiest, the most stressed, are often when our self-care tends to fall apart. I remember having that discussion with a flat mate who was a doctor many years ago, as we drank coke and devoured chocolate bars. In those days I would make guacamole and have it with corn chips when I didn’t feel like cooking, which was often.

I do try not to create impossible schedules for myself and to take time out, but sometimes life takes you by the scruff of the neck  and throws you in at the deep end. It’s sink or swim and if you’ve taken the time to have swimming lessons, the chances of drowning are much reduced.

The trick is to create healthy habits, so that when you go onto automatic pilot you find yourself reaching for food that’s alive. My green smoothie is the highlight of my day every day, as I keep refining it the life in it just gets juicier. I’m adding chia seeds to it now which are a fabulous source of protein  and omega 3’s, apparently the Aztec messengers used to run for miles using chia seeds to power them up.

Speaking of running, exercise is another important support for our faithful and wondrous bodies, I could probably do with some more cardio as a habit, but I have trouble going through a day without some stretching. I LOVE my two hour yoga class every week, it supports me physically, mentally and spiritually. In my recent time as a carer for five dogs there were days when I literally didn’t have time to stretch and the results were not pretty I can tell you.

There will continue to be challenges, I was foolish enough this evening to eat some ice cream with nuts in it and mistakenly bit into a nut with my dodgy front teeth, three of them on a bridge so if they fall out again I am missing three front teeth. This is very disconcerting I have to tell you, dentistry is not cheap in this country and to get implants is insanely expensive!

I am going to breathe into it and tone before I go to bed, hoping like hell that I wake up with my full and beautiful smile looking back at me in the mirror. I need a miracle here my friends, pray for me and I will call on all the Gods and Goddesses to help me manifest something amazing!
