Tonight is my Beloved’s first meditation class which I am very excited about and looking forward to immensely. Mindfulness is the main theme and a very useful concept for just about anything you could possibly think of. Particularly handy when doing things such as driving a car or operating heavy machinery but the applications don’t stop there! Washing dishes, talking to your boss, explaining to your kids where babies come from, all helped enormously when you are truly present to what is occurring. Being mindful in communicating with your lover may be what creates a long-lasting and satisfying relationship, and help you to avoid unneccessary conflict.
Simply noticing what you are habitually thinking and telling yourself about you and the world around you can be a life changing affair. Of course you will probably find that a lot of your self-talk is fairly negative and that can be a bit discouraging. Sometimes becoming more mindful can seem like not such a good thing when it takes you into such a negative space. But hang in there anyway if you possibly can because there is a light at the end of the tunnel. This negativity is inside you all the time so it is affecting you even when you aren’t aware of it. By bringing it into the light of awareness you are creating the potential for healing.
And sitting with uncomfortable feelings is something that I talk about quite a bit on this blog because it is one of my main methods of shifting old patterns. Become mindful of what is going on inside of you and then sit with whatever comes up until it clears. And of course employ whatever methods or techniques that you may have discovered along the path as you transform old energies and beliefs into a wondrous new way of being in the world.

Since I began tuning into my moon flow and seeing how it empowers me, I’ve grown fonder and fonder of that time of the month. I will miss it when it is gone, but in the meantime I can continue to go deeper into myself at those times and allow the increased sensitivity to help me to see more and more of who I am. It does change the way I respond to things and so it is really important to communicate to my partner how I am feeling, amazing when I think how in the past such a simple act as knowing what I felt and being able to tell someone seemed so bloody complicated!
It can still be challenging, you may need to take a deep breath but open and honest communication is I believe a key ingredient in a successful relationship. If you can’t go home and relax into being completely who you are then opportunities to be yourself may be hard to come by in a busy lifestyle. I needed to do a lot of inner work before I could be that honest, I had to learn to not only like myself, but to love who I was. Considering some of the negative thoughts that were kicking around in my consciousness it is amazing that I didn’t just spontaneously combust and spare everyone the pain of my presence on the planet.
Fortunately I am very bloody minded and I just kept plugging away, letting go of all that dark energy that was hiding my light, the bushel was of my own making that’s for sure! Time for us all to come out from behind our particular barrier and to step into a larger self, a future human in fact! It’s more fun even when things are hard, maybe because you are becoming more aligned to the flow of energies, more aware of the interconnected nature of our existence.
Perception is everything, two people can have exactly the same experience and come away with a completely different story, without either of them being right or wrong. Most of the time this isn’t a particularly conscious process but if you bring in your observer so that you can actually see how your thoughts are creating your experience then you can see how changing your mindset can change what you are perceiving. The world around you remains the same and yet completely different, this is how you can change the past as well as creating the future that you desire.
It can also be a wonderful tool for relieving stress, I have used it on numerous occasions when I am feeling worried or apprehensive about something. A couple of days ago when the horses got out of the gate and we were having to come up with ways of getting in and out without it happening again I was feeling really, really stressed. I knew on some level that it would be alright but it was hard to stop the thoughts going round and round in my head as I lay resting in the early evening before heading off to my overnight shift. So I decided to see the whole situation as an adventure or mythic tale with me as the heroine, my Beloved at my side as we met the challenge of outwitting the horses. It didn’t take away all my worry but made a perceptible difference to how I was feeling.
When I was going through my dark night of the soul some years ago I was really freaking out and feeling overwhelmed by the energies that were moving in me. I navigated through those times in lots of different ways, but there was one time when I was being assailed by negative thoughts and so I sat down and wrote my story as a mythic tale starting from when I was born. I kept writing and continued the story from the moment I was in into the future, the tale became more and more positive and by the time I finished I was feeling wonderful.
Remember there is nothing that you cannot change with this approach, however bad things look you can shift the view with just a small tweak in consciousness. You can move from fear to love, anger to bliss, from ignorance to joyful embrace of the great mystery that is this earthly existence.
So go forth and change the world into what you would like to see and experience, the more of us who do this the closer we all come to a new way of being, the path of the heart.
