Focusing The Positive.

Life is good, of that I have not the slightest doubt, in the very heart and soul of my being I know that the corner has been turned, that I am on the homeward lap and it isn’t actually possible to stray off the path, for where else could I possibly be! Yet my day has been a journey through many different emotional landscapes, when you are challenging the very bedrock of your foundations there tends to be a response from the aspects of self that are terrified of dying.

The kind of environment you inhabit is very important at times like this, I connect as much as I can with others who have a positive outlook on life, and who I can truly be myself with. But that isn’t always possible, and I was reminded today in a meditation by my higher self that it is common sense to put in energetic protection in order to not be taking on other people’s stuff. Nellie Nobody is very keen to take on the slightest possible suggestion that another might not approve of the measures I am taking to change my life, and so brings up whatever insecurities that may still be lurking inside.

And I bless her for her anxiety, she is helping me to shed anything that might get in the way of my personal golden age unfolding with grand fanfare and ecstatic celebration. When that job is over for her she can be in charge of making sure I never lose my humility, I have encountered very few people who I would truly consider to be masters, but the one thing they have all had in common was the ability to be completely ordinary.

This is one of those people, Master Zhang Hao, an amazing teacher based in Sydney, Australia: http://www.chihealing.com.au/index.html

So don’t be too hard on the parts of you that are trying to hold you back from being fully in your power, its more about redirecting their gifts rather than shutting them down. When I can be consistent in my focused intention of creating my new life, Fay Fairytale’s wondrous imagination is probably my greatest ally, if she’s wasting time on unproductive fantasies I have only myself to blame!

It’s from Gabrielle Roth the incredible dance shaman that I have borrowed these particular terms for the different parts of myself, I have a feeling that I’ve shared this quote with you before but it sums up the theme of this post so nicely I’m going to share it again:

“Life is sacred. Life is art. Life is sacred art. The art of sacred living means being a holy actor, acting from the soul rather than the ego. The soul is out of space and time and hence always available, an ever-present potential of our being. It is up to each of us to celebrate and to actualize our being and to turn each meal, conversation, outfit, letter, and so on, into art. Every mundane activity is an opportunity for full authentic self-expression. The soul is our artistic self, our capacity for transforming every dimension of our lives into art and theater.”

Maps to Ecstasy, Gabrielle Roth, Nataraj Publ, Novato, CA, 1989.

So lets hear it for the ordinary and the everyday, may we swoon over the dishes and make love to the earth as we pull up the weeds!

Here is a very famous death scene from Monty Pythons’s Meaning of Life, enjoy!

Be The Heart Of Conscious Community.

What is the depth of communication that occurs in social media, can it be a tool for creating conscious and empathic groups, supporting each other in a variety of ways. Certainly for me there is a stronger focus on my local groups when I use Facebook, as well as connecting directly with individuals, sharing information and inspiring each other. I am fortunate to be connected to many people in my local community, whatever I need is there if I have the sense to ask for it, there is always support for me here, love and acknowledgement. Add people in other parts of Australia and some around the world and we are talking a lot of hearts all being connected, being the heart of conscious community.

That’s the theme for the Joining Gathering which runs over the Equinox weekend coming up, I have been called elsewhere this time but to experience a beautiful honouring of the masculine and feminine, and all the other deepening experiences on offer, is a beautiful thing to do if you are drawn to it. http://thejoining.com.au/  I’m going to be busy working with songlines as well as my personal journey, looking forward to this coming Equinox very much indeed. I was told not long ago by a psychic that I was going to become more witchy as I got older, I have to confess she was very accurate, in fact so far she’s been spot on about an awful lot of things.

So in my way of doing things social media plays a positive role in creating and connecting my community, like any useful tool it depends on how it is utilised and mindfulness is so important. Many of the people I connect with in the virtual realms I see in my daily life at different times, but there are some that I have never physically met who I actually feel just as close to. The particular group I am thinking of came together out of an online course with Jean Houston and so we have a similar vision and were all drawn to each other in the virtual world that was created for our interaction in the course.

So don’t be afraid to work with technology, it can be a very intuitive process and I have seen clearly how it can bring ordinary people together to create positive change in our communities. Bring on the New Age of spirit and matter, body and soul, time to become future humans!

Packing Devotion.

I wrote a post that came out about a week ago about how loving yourself is easy when you are doing fun things, but when the times get tough it can be challenging to maintain that positive outlook. So how did I go with this on my recent trip, as a matter of fact it was on the very day that post came out that I spent 12 hours sorting and re-packing my stuff!

I started off looking through the journals and bits and pieces I had written, and it was actually pretty interesting to get glimpses into my past. But I was always going to keep all of that stuff, so there came a point where I realised that I was not using my time very efficiently, however fascinating it might be. At that stage the day was almost over, and having champagne with my friend didn’t help the process either. Hence the 12 hour day where the only sorting was of things that might get thrown away, and I managed to get rid of quite a bit.

That very long day was where I was truly tested and I have to say that I passed with flying colours! The temptation to hate what I was doing and wanting it to just be over was very strong, so I did what I always do in that situation. I made the choice to see it as an act of devotion, in this case the devotion was for self, there is something very sacred about clearing your clutter and getting more organised. It also felt like I was gathering in parts of me that had been scattered so was very much a part of becoming more whole, putting all the bits of me back together.

And I do feel different, its subtle and there aren’t really words to describe it, but I am not the same person who went down to the city just a short time ago. May these winds of change guide me as I navigate my way through the birth of a new world, my own personal reality and the larger one that holds us all.

I Love What I Do!

How is it that I don’t work full-time and yet I have these crazy days where I have to consciously spin my thoughts into positive channels in order not to get stressed out! There’s yoga, meditation, choir practice, writing posts, then throw in meal preparation, household tasks and a bit (actually quite a lot) of a social life, and you can probably understand why. It’s a choice I keep telling myself, so find a way to navigate through it, or make some changes!

The thing is that all of these things that I do bring me great joy, and that includes the work that I do as well, of course there are challenges in there but that is a big part of what helps us to learn and to grow so I’m not about to ask the Gods to take that away. Remember, you have to be careful what you ask the Gods for! So I try to maintain a balance, it’s important to do stretches and meditation most days, but if doing that on a particularly busy day is going to really stress me out then I don’t do it. Not much point in yoga and relaxation if the doing of it actually produces anxiety.

It’s important to have spiritual, mental and physical practices that support you in living your life, and they need to happen on a regular basis. But being rigid about anything, even healthy things, is not part of a program of happiness and well-being. So the first question you need to ask yourself is “Am I happy?”, then look at what in your life is supporting that state of being and what is not. The ideal is to be able to let go of anything that isn’t supporting a happy state but if that’s not possible then consider how you might view it differently, as I said in my last post, change your thoughts about the situation.

The more that you are doing activities that you enjoy, the happier you will become, and you will probably maintain that even when things get busy and a bit crazy. You tend to be a nicer person to be around and that means that you are likely to be getting good vibes from those around you, it all accumulates and builds, imagine a world where everybody is doing this!

Is Twitter For The Birds?

There’s a little ball of anxiety spinning around in my belly looking for reasons to be worried, at the moment it’s focused on having to get posts written ahead because of the busy time I have coming up, starting tomorrow night with work. Actually it was trying to get my sim card to work in my new smart phone that really got it started, there is a special kind of frustration when you don’t quite know what you are doing with technological stuff. I’m much better versed in the more emotional kind of stuff, please Goddess send me a ten-year old to help me with this issue!

I probably sound like a Luddite don’t I, they were a group of artisans during the Industrial Revolution who protested against the new machinery that threatened to replace them with unskilled labour, it’s now a term used to refer to those who are anti technology. Well that isn’t me, once I get that sim card working I’m going to have heaps of fun working out how to get the best out of my new phone.

Technology in the guise of social media is actually having an incredibly positive effect on our culture, the global village has never been so well-connected as it is today. To be a Luddite now would be to behave like an ostrich and bury your head in the sand, the trick is to use these new pathways constructively as tools to bring us all closer together in a positive way.

Laughter is a great way to create happy energy so please have a look at this incredibly silly video that purports to be a trailer for a movie about Twitter, an aspect of social media that is still a mystery to me at this point in time. Hope you enjoy, tweet, tweet!

A Grateful Life.

I’ve had a request to write about the subject of how to open to life’s blessings, it’s a theme you will find running through a lot of my posts, but I think I will try to pop in something specific on this from time to time from now on. The first thing that popped into my mind when I read this comment was gratitude, simply being thankful for the good things that you do have in your life. In bleak moments this can be challenging, but there’s always something you can find, it might be the fact that you have all your limbs and air to breathe, or maybe it’s the fact that the doom you were certain was on its way didn’t actually arrive today!

I feel gratitude most days, but with this time of intense energies we have been going through, there have been times when I have struggled to find that place in myself, so don’t give yourself a hard time if you can’t manage to get there. Be present with whatever emotions are moving through you, and be prepared to look through the chink of light that will appear if you can allow those feelings to be released. There is always a light at the end of the tunnel no matter how long the journey may seem, and as the light begins to seep in it may become easier to genuinely feel that sense of gratitude.

Whatever you choose to focus on will grow, so that attention on what is good in your life will help the positive aspects to develop and grow stronger. You could formalise this process by keeping a gratitude diary, every day write down all the things you feel grateful for, if you have a friend to buddy up with so that you are each doing this and sharing with each other, it can become even more powerful. Not only keeps you on track in terms of the discipline of doing the process, but it also brings in the power of being witnessed.

Here is a brief meditation from Deepak Chopra on gratitude, he’s an inspirational teacher who has helped me a lot in the past to understand difficult concepts like quantum physics, not that I can really get my brain fully around that particular subject, but he definitely made it more accessible for my unscientific mind! He has a wonderful way with words, if you are not familiar with him why not go googling, he has also written many books. Love and gratitude to all who follow and read my offerings here on throughthevortex.org, grateful blissings…………

Circles Of Love.

You’ve heard the expression, you can tell a lot about a person by meeting their friends, well the circles we move in certainly do reflect wherever we happen to be at, so making conscious choices about this aspect of living is an important part of creating change. Of course it goes hand in hand with inner change, as you shift your internal landscape the outer world will begin to reflect that back to you. If you are trying to bring about a positive shift in your life, then having people around you who will support you in that endeavour is immensely helpful, after all, we tend to have enough of our own resistance without anyone else adding to it!

I’ve reached an alchemical moment in my transformational journey, when the outer and inner worlds are beginning to match up and align, and everywhere I go there seems to be positive feedback  coming my way. If ever I am tempted to slip back into negative thought patterns about myself, this constant stream of appreciation helps to keep me on path. It’s like a golden light that fills me with love and gratitude, if all these amazing people feel like that about me, I must be alright! Not that one should ever be dependant on the approval of others but when the messages are coming from such a heartfelt place, it contributes to the creation of a loving kindness energy field, and that benefits everybody.

That loving field is what my toning circles are all about, we tone from our hearts, and the resulting frequencies create an energy that is so very yummy, it can help to bring us into the ecstatic state that is our birthright. So if you want to have positive shifts in your life, see if you can surround yourself with those who will understand and support the desire to move into a higher state of evolution. Time to become the future human, the seed that lies as potential in each and every one of us.
