Pets For Vets: Unconditional Love Heals Emotional Pain.

Oops-smiley-faceBIG apologies for being one day late with my post!

I am not ashamed to admit that I cried when I watched the short video telling the story of a wounded man and the dog who saved him from his nightmares. This organisation, “Pets For Vets”, was set up by Clarissa Black who is an animal behaviorist and trainer. PTSD is a real problem not just for war veterans but for victims of crime as well. Women tend to develop the condition more easily than men and are more likely to be exposed to the kind of high impact traumatic event that can lead to PTSD.

christenergyThe impact in the life of a conscious being of feeling disconnected from everyone can be devastating.  The need to belong is a fundamental part of being human, I suspect that when we move beyond being human the concept of belonging will simply be self-evident. And even while still in a body it is possible to move into that kind of inner space in a spiritual way, to be able to do it when in the grips of an illness such as PTSD would be pretty challenging. How much simpler to bring unconditional love and lots of touch and communication into the lives of those touched by intense traumas.

How magic would it be to see this concept used in the treatment of other kinds of illness, there isn’t much that love and connection can’t do when it comes to healing the human body, mind and soul!

Moving Haze: Taking Care Of Myself.

The horses we looked after for 3 months. Photo by me.

This is going to be a very short post, I’ve just spent two days moving out of our bush paradise back into town and I’ve hardly stopped all day and now it’s time to take care of myself. I don’t want to re-blog something without some kind of good reason so I decided to just be totally honest with you and make this really brief and to the point.

The Single Mother’s Club, both of these wallabies have joeys.

There are times when you have to let go of things you would like to achieve in order to take care of yourself, on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, whatever you may need. Yes I could have had a post prepared early but it didn’t happen, if you stick with me and read future blogs they will come from someone whose brain is actually functioning. I promise you it will be fun, informative and sometimes even a bit profound.

I am thinking a lot about the fact that I’m not doing much yoga at the moment, I know it will come back into my routine but I can feel the difference in my body. Although my physical self is mostly feeling pretty good owing to my loving workouts in the sensual world of tantra and body awareness, thank you to the Beloved, all of it. But I will be glad when I shift back into more regular practice because for me it is something that is grounding and irons out any kinks that I may have put in over a day.

It is so important to move your body, in fact your lymph system depends on it, that plays a vital role in the flow of blood in the circulatory system so being physically active is really important. The lymphatic system is also a key factor in maintaining our health, it is integral to the body’s ability to detox and to maintain a strong immune system. We do tend to do a lot of things sitting for sometimes long periods, I will tend to stretch my neck if I am working for long enough but I am sure I could introduce more self-awareness into my sedentary times.  Here is a link to an article about the lymphatic system: http://www.naturaltherapypages.com.au/article/lymphatic_system

It always comes back to awareness really, from that place flows all potential and possibility, see what is there and create whatever you want out in the quantum soup. So much of my journey is about letting go of the limitations that I have accepted and put upon myself, as we all have each in our own unique way. So I don’t give myself a hard time for not doing a lot of yoga, it’s not like I’m miserable or having a hard time at the moment. Life is good and I will do my best to bring my awareness to any health issues with curiosity and positivity, mostly I am concerned with prevention rather than a cure.

There are almost certainly other methods that can create that difference in the body, it is about feeling toned and strong, I keep threatening to go to a dance class called Nia, don’t know yet if I will like it but dancing for my cardio workout sounds like an awesome idea! But I know I will come back to my yoga too, my body just adores being in that space, it has always felt like something I was being reminded of rather than taught. I suspect a number of lives back there in the deeps of time and space where spirituality and yoga were my life, at the very least it is an energy that I resonate with.

Pranayama.

So if you go through times when you are not doing things that you love and are good for you, first step is to be kind to yourself. There is always a reason and change is important in life, when you come back to your practice you may find it has changed in a positive fashion. The same way that separation in  relationship can sometimes be a way of integrating change and ultimately making the relationship stronger.

I invite you to try out a loving practice with yourself, just for one day really notice when your mind makes a judgement about someone, it may be a stranger on the street. The practice is to send that person love instead, no reason why you can’t do it with bigger more impersonal issues too, sending your enemies love is actually a great strategy. But more on that in another post, time to let you go until the next time we meet!

Raising Awareness For Social Transformation.

march in march brisbaneI don’t often talk about politics on this blog, my focus tends more to be on consciousness itself and the potential for transformation, without this first step the necessary changes can’t really happen anyway. But here in Australia we just had at least 100,000 people marching to display their vote of no confidence in the current government, an event that has been largely ignored by the mainstream media. From what I can gather on social media the protests were peaceful and full of ordinary everyday people who are unhappy about a government that gives to the rich and takes from the poor, that treats asylum seekers as if they were criminals.  If I hadn’t been working I would have been there myself.

And here is footage from another capital city, Brisbane: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDMFYA1F4hw#t=15

Here is an article from someone who was at the protest the next day at the nation’s capital Canberra: http://www.independentaustralia.net/politics/politics-display/canberra-march-in-march-social-media-made-flesh,6288

For me the path continues to be working with shifts in consciousness, mine own and to be a support for others when I have the opportunity, this will create change but I do believe that we also need the people out there doing the protests It’s just like the way you might approach the healing of a physical issue in your body, attending to the spiritual, emotional and mental causes may lead to a complete return to health. But along the way you may need to have particular herbs or physical exercises or stretches for the body, all of the necessary steps are important.

physical emotional spiritual

For change in our society to occur there needs to be a fundamental shift in consciousness and that can only come from the raising of awareness. This increase in awareness can come from many different sources and the most important part happens deep within the soul itself, but the triggers can be events like these marches that have happened all around the country.

May the Shift come soon, with peace and harmony walking hand in hand.

Tuning Into Your Inner Road Map: Finding Perspective.

spiritual energyIn order to clear, things have to get stirred up in the first place, sometimes in ecstatic spaces and sometimes with a fair bit of discomfort. It’s all a part of the process and the more you are able to accept ‘what is’, the less you suffer. Easy to say not always so simple to put into practice, I try to remember to surrender and let the energy keep moving, breathing into it seems to help.

The Inner Neural Workout!

The Inner Neural Workout!

There’s always a lesson too, a map to be read in our cells of emotional, spiritual, mental and physical fields, all holding the stuff of which we are made. Learn to be a reader who can tune in to the finer vibrations, it enriches life in ways beyond imagining as you allow yourself to be there in full.

Being present in all my fullness when there is fear in my belly is pretty intense, it helps to bring the light of awareness into the picture. In that moment I know that however dominating that fear and tension may be, that  it won’t last forever. I think of being in my lover’s arms and melting into that security and it becomes a bit easier to stay with that discomfort in my being.

Getting a bit of perspective can also help if you are ever feeling a bit overwhelmed by what life is throwing at you, when you can see the kind of life that some people live your own problems can seem so much smaller. This video from Carl Sagan’s TV show “Cosmos: A Personal Voyage” certainly puts things in a very sharp perspective, enjoy:

Pleasuring Into Ecstasy: Slow It Down Sweetheart!

PinkOshoFlowerPoemYou know there are some blogs out there that really keep it simple and focus on one big project, like cooking your way through a famous french recipe book over a whole year. And then there’s someone like me, exploring every aspect of consciousness she can send her awareness into, moving fluidly and sometimes for no apparent reason from one project to another, and then back again!

Well I’m back to where I had got to in “Tantric Orgasm For Women” and really enjoying being able to read and find that sometimes an open body and heart is as good as any book. But it is an excellent text-book and very inspiring too, relaxation is the key and I can attest to the value of letting go of tension and generally slowing everything down. So you do need to be able to trust your Beloved, even then you may be holding tensions you are not aware of, so a safe space to be together in is crucial, and that is emotional and spiritual space, not just the physical.

soulmates

The more that you let go, the more you can allow the body to guide the experiential navigation of two energies coming together, you become more sensitive to subtle energy, sensuality is heightened, which can only be a good thing! And anything that you do comes out of a place of non-attachment.

“Action is an overflowing of energy; action is in this moment, a response, unprepared, unrehearsed. The whole existence meets you, confronts you and a response simply comes. The birds are singing and suddenly you start singing-it is not activity. Suddenly it happens. Suddenly you find it is happening, that you have started humming-this is action.”

An Extraordinary Ordinary Life.

This is the age of the quick fix, feeling a bit down and low in energy? Why that’s easy to solve, there are plenty of advertisements out there telling you how to fill that empty space, everything from the latest i Phone to food and alcohol, tv programs, the list is endless. But have you noticed that this constant need to acquire stuff doesn’t actually seem to produce happiness, you would imagine that wealthy people must live in a state of ecstasy according to this credo but the fact of the matter is that it just isn’t so.

As long as we search outside of ourselves for meaning we are going to continue to come up short, the true journey begins within, and the outcome is not about fixing anything.

“So, the first point to make about care of the soul is that it is not primarily a method of problem solving. Its goal is not to make life problem-free, but to give ordinary life the depth and value that come with soulfulness”

Care Of The Soul, Thomas Moore, p4.

I made the decision about 20 years ago that I needed to start integrating my spiritual life into my everyday living, otherwise why bother? It’s been a long journey in that period of time and I’m still very much a work in progress, but I think I can safely say that there have been huge improvements. I learned very slowly over time to love myself as I am, and found methods to let go of the emotional charge held in my body that had me reacting to life’s events rather than responding. If you’ve been with me for a while then you’ve heard quite a bit about all of that.

Time now for a fresh start on this journey, I spoke a few posts ago about my sense that I have come to the end of a chapter, and that’s still very much how I’m feeling. There is clearing out of anything that no longer serves me in this process, but even more there is a sense of building and creating the new chapter that is opening up, not only for me I believe but for the whole of humanity. I’m going to be a student over the next few weeks with the focus very much on this subject, so stay posted for any useful insights that may come my way!

“…..the goal is a richly elaborated life, connected to society and nature, woven into the culture of family, nation, and globe. The idea is not to be superficially adjusted, but to be profoundly connected in the heart to ancestors and to living brothers and sisters in all the many communities that claim our hearts.”

Care Of The Soul, Thomas Moore, Introduction: p xviii.

Destination Unknown.

Well I’m back in this strange reality that we have all agreed to participate in together and feeling soooooo much better about it than I did yesterday. I was aware of fear and doubt moving in my belly this morning, much diminished from the day before, to me it felt like a shimmering energy moving upwards to be released. I went out into a stunning and hot day to dive into two hours of a yoga class that took me deeply into my inner realms, helping me to process and integrate those swirling energies.

Now as I sit here writing I’m aware that there is still movement down below, but I’m detached from it, it’s a kind of stepping back that happens internally. It allows the process to continue as it needs to, but you are no longer attached to the discomfort or whatever feelings are going on. I find yoga to be a wonderful way of moving into this space, but you need to find a class that acknowledges the practice as not only physical, but spiritual and energetic. I am very fortunate in that I have two amazing teachers who support me in my practice on all levels of my being.

yogaimage2

As always I recommend that you explore the possibilities, and find the modality that works for you, dance, meditation, chanting or toning, challenge yourself and get out of your comfort zone, you might be surprised at what ends up working for you. I like having as many tools as possible, doing the same thing all the time just doesn’t work for me, variety is an absolute necessity in my life. But you know, it doesn’t actually matter what you do, as long as it works!

I’m looking over at “The Art of Non-Conformity” and reading the sub-title, “Set your own rules, live the life you want, and change the world,” sounds like an excellent plan to me, and in my more positive frame of mind it seems much more likely than it did yesterday. I’m still not quite sure of the how but the only way to find out is to keep plugging away, sometimes you just have to keep going even when you have no idea what the final destination might be.

So on, on and onwards, to destinations exotic and unknown!

Here is a video with some basic yoga for beginners, but if you don’t have any movement experience or a pretty comprehensive body awareness then I would recommend going and doing a class. If you do a pose incorrectly you can hurt yourself, and if you learn it right the first time there are no bad habits to undo!

Believe In Love/Tinkerbell.

‘Did you hear about how Tony Abbott has eliminated the minister for science from his cabinet?’
Rhiannon: why?
Me: I’m not sure, but I think it’s because they want to ignore the science on climate change.
Rhia: what?! Climate change isn’t like Tinkerbell, it doesn’t just disappear if you don’t believe in it!

Tinkerbell.

Tinkerbell.

I don’t often discuss politics here, but our lack of proper guardianship of the planet is pretty much beyond the pettiness and maneuvering of our politicians, as they give us a low-class soapie to watch if we want the distraction. That we would destroy our Great Barrier Reef for the sake of coal, when renewable energy sources are actually better all round, not only for the environment but more jobs too.

Science is a bit tricky too, like our brains, it turns out to be much more malleable than we thought and very responsive to powerful intentions, this is shown in experiments where subjects tried to affect the output of a random number generator. It can be done, but the people who are best at it are very good at creating strong intention, meditators, psychics and healers for example. And no I’m not trying to say that climate change isn’t real because it is, and we do have to change our unconscious ways, it’s time to WAKE UP!

Molecular Thoughts

But I also believe that we are in a much bigger cycle, around 5,000 years or so, which is coming to an end and the kind of weather  we have been having has been reported at these kinds of end times, by those who came before us. What this means is that we need to start using our ‘spiritual technology’, prayer, chanting, walking, meditating, toning, all of these practices bring us into coherence where the brain and the heart are vibrating at the same frequency. This is the feeling of being in love, people in that space are more likely to negotiate rather than go to war.

The Valley Of Love.

Relaxation is one of those states of being that tends to be undervalued in this culture, where action and achievement are held up as the pinnacles we are meant to be aiming at. Personally I just don’t have the motivation to climb that particular Everest, how about we go gliding through the canals of Venice, or if you really like winter sports then try sledding down the hill and simply letting go. When I can make the space for it I am pretty good at letting go, and when I allow it, I have become adept at actually relaxing into my fullness.

Mount Everest.

Mount Everest.

If you have a look at tantra you will find a lot of talk about relaxation, instead of going faster and faster and heading towards a ‘peak’ orgasm, you relax and allow the subtle energies to be perceived and felt, and sink into what is known as a ‘valley’ orgasm. I’m not speaking from personal experience, ten years ago when I was in my last relationship I knew nothing about any of this stuff although some of it happened spontaneously. I was already beginning to clear my stuff and move energies and as a woman it is much easier for me to be in that tantric space, it’s all about ‘being’ rather than ‘doing’.

When the opportunity to move into relationship as a spiritual practice arrives I will embrace it wholeheartedly, but in the meantime I will practice relaxation in all areas of my life as best I can. Things work better, we operate more harmoniously when we are coming from a relaxed space, but that’s a discussion for another post.

Good news for anyone who suffers from performance anxiety in the bedroom, which would be just about everyone at some point in a relationship. And for those of you who aren’t worried, are you on automatic pilot doing the same thing every time because you know it works, and if you try something new you might get rejected and isn’t that simply the worst possible thing that could happen! I’m not hearing relaxation in any of that description, and while I may be exaggerating a little and focusing on the negative, there are some truths in what I say.

More on this subject another time, in the meantime have a listen to Frankie Goes To Hollywood singing “Relax (Don’t do it)”, I don’t think I ever really listened to the words before, it’s about valley orgasms!
